Crane Truck Falls Through Wooden Bridge After Ignoring 2-Ton Weight Limit

A crane truck fell through a wooden bridge on Monday morning after failing to observe the posted weight limit.

It happened at approximately 9:35 a.m. on Monday, May 15th in Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania.

According to Mercury news, the crane had crossed the bridge earlier in the day with no complications but, after installing a rooftop HVAC system for the SunnyBrook Ballroom, the crane crashed through the bottom of the bridge and into Sprogels Run on its way out.

The weight limit for the bridge was posted at 2 tons. There was at least one sign near the bridge providing this information.

Witnesses say the crane driver looked as if he was injured as he walked around the site of the crash.

The driver refused to be taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Crews spent the day using booms to clean up any spilled fuel from the crane and preparing to remove the crane from the creek.

Officials say the bridge will have to be replaced. The identity of the driver has not been released.
